Hawaii

After a five hour flight we arrived at the Honolulu airport around ten at night.  This is the airport as you are leaving as we were making our way to the shuttle.  We were surprised to see Sujin and Joe with leis to greet us.  We then made it to the car rental place and the adventures began.  There is no way you can take enough photoes to show how nice it is (we tried with over 600 pictures).  Second, there is no way you could post them all; so I will try to share a few.  Hope not to bore you, and then you will have to check them all out on your visit.
One of the first falls we hiked into
The trees and shrubs were very different and sometimes hard to believe.

Top picture is the Arizone Memorial at Pearl Harbor.  Below is the outline of the ship under the water. It was very interesting to see and to feel of the reverence and respect that was in the area for the thousands that lost their lives that Sunday morning.

Part of the coastline at Wikikia beach.
Some more of the trees: the branches grow out from the trunk then from the limbs they would send out vines that would drop to the ground to take  root and help support the tree through storms.
Sunset from Wikikia beach; it's another town that makes you think they never sleep.  The water is very warm and so is the air, so you see people out walking on the beach and sidewalks at all times of  the day or night.

Saturday

After a morning of garage sales we went and parked near the Ventura Pier and rode up to and around the Rincon. Jeff and Kylie joined us for the day.
It was a nice ride and as always the coast provides some lovely scenery.

Jamie and Peyton's Visit

Friday Jamie and Peyton came down.  We enjoyed some time at the no wave beach.
(Peyton was a sport and let me bury her legs)

Then she played with Tori, and then enjoyed a little watermelon

Went for a car ride in the back yard

Best model I have every had for that old cap

Even being a few days early, Melissa  made a birthday cake for Jamie that we all got to share

 Happy birthday, early, Jaime.
We will think of you on our way out, on your birthday.
(So this is how we all celebrated Marci's birthday)

out with the old, in with the new

This is what the front tire looked like on John's bike all the way to Ojai and back.

But it was the new rear tire that went flat.
But he did change the front tire too.

The Big Accomplishment

Wednesday we decided to try and start at the Ventura Pier and see how far up towards Ojai we could ride our bikes.
Half way there taking a little break.
 At Libby Bowel in Ojai

On the trail back down

The phone on the left shows all the info on the trip up and the one on the right shows the trip back over 33 miles and 4 hours of riding time; what an accomplishment for us.

Our shadows in the water from a bridge we rode over.

Peyton's Birthday Stage One

So they wanted to have a early birthday party for Peyton before Jason had to head back to Canada for football practice. They caught me at home; that's why the old ranch truck was at home. (They're lucky that I didn't bring the old John Deere home to be in the drive way.) Blow up the picture to check out the cool signs.  And yes, we got all the animal dung cleaned up for the party (even if it was dog poop)

Then someone had taken my larriate and wrote out Peyton's name on the barn door so I took it off and put it by the food table.

There were hats and neckerchiefs for all the little buckaroos.

We were able to bring in a couple of straw bales see's we just got the grain all harvested.
Then the guest of honor finally showed up.

There was plenty of food for all that showed up even the birthday girl

.

There was face painting and throwing bean bags

Then it was show time; let's open them presents.

There was a cake smashing time; what a great party for a very special gal.

Here are some of the folks that showed up to enjoy it. Good times partner!
